The 53rd annual English Recitation Contest was held on June 20th, in the new Vories Memorial Chapel. In this years contest, 24 students competed. Their stories included such classics as Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are", Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and Leo Leonni's"Swimmy". his years winner, Arisa Tabuchi performed the story of "Harry the Dirty Dog" by Eugene Zion.
All of the students did an excellent job and performed their stories with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Their hard work over the past few weeks was clear for all to see, and made the afternoon an enjoyable one for all present. In a minor departure from the tradition of previous years, each of the 1st grade classes performed one of their favourite worship songs: Thy Word, Hosanna, There is a Redeemer and Seek Thee First. These were also popular with the audience, and helped to top off a great afternoon.
